News and Photo's...   Week 15 in 2005

On Tuesday, July 12th, we held our first event at the new Awbridge Pavilion.

Folks turned up at Sozo House for their usual Tuesday meeting BUT, at the end of the video presentation
Pastor Marion stood at the front and told them the surprise news that Awbridge was complete inside and
that Strawberries and Cream were being served at the new Pavilion.

Folks were shocked that it was finished, but they soon took to their cars and headed to Awbridge.

They were pretty much shocked and overwhelmed to see their new building alive and ready for action.

The children took to the wide open outdoors and started to enjoy all that was before them. At the end of the evening
Marion spoke to us all and prayed a blessing over our new building and gave a vote of thanks to all who made it possible.

Outside work is still being undertaken but it is hoped to have it all finished before the end of August.

Here are a few pictures to enjoy.

Interior Finished - Crowds expected soon for Strawberries and Cream!
How a building can change in such a short time!

Latest News and Photo's...   Week 12

Well, we are still at it, but I am delighted to say we are well and truly on the home straight.

Since our last update we have second fixed both the plumbing and the majority of the electrics.
As we read this Dave Doe the plumber is now on a beach in Tenerife recovering from a hard week at work!
We have all the toilets working, the kitchen sink in place and the LPG central heating has been commissioned

ready for action. Brian the builder is currently installing the kitchen and Andy and Glen are busy decorating.

We have also managed to have lino fitted in the toilet area's and have agreed a date for the carpets to go down.
What an exciting time these next few weeks will be.

On Wednesday July 6th, we are organising a cleaning day for anyone and everyone from the fellowship to lean to
and help us clean the place a day prior to the carpet fitters.

As yet the outside is virtually untouched. Once the inside is finished and we start using it, the builders will come
back and complete the outside work. We are planning a patio area right outside which will meet the area we seeded
a few weeks ago. The new grass is appearing but it has been hampered by the recent dry spell.

Keep an eye out on this section for the official opening date and celebration.

The grass is growing- rain needed!
The Ladies Loo - All in place - Boiler, loo's, sinks, radiators and even a bit of paint!

Latest News and photo's... week 8

Our Sozo Love Gift Day raised £4,900 towards the overheads of the project. We are so grateful to all the people
who contributed, especially those who gave sacrificially of themselves to bless all those who will enjoy the Pavilion.

We will now press on towards our original target of £8,000 which is an estimate to finish the whole job.

From a building aspect, I think we have now pulled out just about everything that has needed pulling out and we are starting to rebuild!

The roofers completed their work about 2 weeks ago. The first time the Pavilion has been rain proof for some years!

We had to do an about turn on night storage heating as we found out that there was not enough power coming
into the building from the road. As an alternative we are having central heating fitted with a combi boiler for hot water. This really will
be far superior and cheaper in the long run.
Our plumber, Dave Doe very kindly shuffled his appointments about in order to come
back and install all the pipework needed. The electricians have also completed their first fix.

As the photo's below will show, Brian, Glen and Andy are now working hard to plasterboard the ceilings and interior walls. Once
that is done it will really start to come together. The new doors and disabled facilites will be a focus in the coming week, as will a
concrete platform for the gas storage tank, which arrives next week. Work will also start soon on the exterior which needs a few repairs
and a good coat of paint.

During the last week local farmer, Will Hillier very kindly came over from his farm with his tractor and levelled the scrub area outside
the patio doors. We will now tidy that up and seed the whole area for grass.

Do enjoy these photo's of a vision in progress.

Will soon look good with a few seeds
and a drop of rain!

At week 4...

We are now in week 4 of the project and things are moving along very well.
The roof is due to be completed this week and inside is just having its "first fix" plumbing
and the wooden framework for the new interior walls.
We were fortunate enough to be able to use the existing drains which has helped keep costs down.

Interior removed! Ready to start again
The new interior walls start to take shape
Great what you can achieve in 4 weeks

At week 1...

“We’re delighted to inform you that we completed the 6 year lease agreement for Awbridge Pavilion on
Wednesday, March 30th at around 2pm. Building work commenced at 8am the following morning on the
planned refurbishment.

The refurbishment is scheduled to go on for about 10-12 weeks in which time the building will be
totally re-modelled inside & the exterior will be re-decorated & improved. Once completed it will provide
an excellent Social Centre for the ministry where we can meet up to enjoy fellowship together.

For those who have not seen the Pavilion, it is a 1300 sq foot 70’s pre-fab. building formerly used as a
football clubhouse & changing facility for the youth. It is set in large grounds (over 3 football fields) as well
as a lovely new playground on the same site as Awbridge Village Hall. It even borders a woodland walk &
is a totally peaceful, restful location.

We have many intended uses for the Pavilion especially when the weather is good!
We will be able to meet up for *Social evenings, *Fun Days, *BBQ’s etc as well as coming together for
*Bible Studies, *Prayer Groups and even as a place for the *Home Educators to enjoy time together.

Do please pray for the progress of the project as we would love to have things finished for the summer.” Alan
